Erin Roberts from the British Academy of Science, UK, has developed a technique for making coffee using a range of natural ingredients that can make it a more beneficial, less toxic substance.
“We’ve tried a range to see what works for different people, and we’ve discovered that it’s all about timing,” she told BBC News.
“When we use a tea leaf, we want it to absorb the caffeine in the tea, so we put it in the cup before the tea leaves.”
The ingredients of the coffee are then boiled in a kettle of water and the coffee leaves are then added.
This gives the coffee a thick, nutty flavour, but with no added sugars.
“The idea is that you don’t want to add sugars, because that is bad for your health,” she said.
This process allows the natural sugars in the coffee to sink into the coffee grounds and the resulting coffee leaves become more viscous, giving the coffee its distinctive taste.
Erin also added that she has found that adding just one teaspoon of sugar a day reduces the amount of caffeine in coffee.
If you’re already a coffee drinker, you might already be drinking less caffeine than you should.
This is because most of the caffeine is absorbed by the stomach.
“So if you’re a coffee connoisseur, then you probably should be drinking more than you would normally,” she explained.
The problem with adding sugar to coffee, however, is that it is also a lot more expensive.
